The RG5 Portal

Where the Gadgeteer journey comes to life.

The RG5 Portal is the digital home of the Gadgeteer Inventor Kit. The kit gives your child the parts. The portal gives them the path.

    What Is The RG5 Portal?

The RG5 Portal is a guided learning platform created for young Gadgeteers using the Robots & Gadgets Inventor Kit. It helps learners move step by step through projects, lessons, quizzes, code examples and practical challenges.

A box of components can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. The RG5 Portal helps turn those components into a learning journey.

Meet your guide. RG5 is the friendly robot at the heart of the Gadgeteer Pledge: a companion of curiosity and invention who promised to help every young inventor build, learn and dream. Inside the portal, RG5 is the voice beside every mission, cheering on the first blinking LED and turning every mistake into a clue in disguise. Meet RG5

      Foundation Academy

New to electronics? Start here. The Foundation Academy covers what every Gadgeteer needs before the first mission: what current is, how a breadboard works and why resistors matter, in short and friendly modules.

      The resistor colour chart
      Learner favourite

      Reference Library

The colour bands on a resistor stop being a mystery. The reference library keeps a resistor colour chart, circuit symbols and component guides one click away, so learners look it up instead of guessing.

      Activate Your Serial Number

Three steps from unboxing to your first mission. If your serial number will not activate, or you would rather we walked you through it, contact us with your order number and we will help.

        Step 1

        Find Your Serial Number

Every Gadgeteer Inventor Kit ships with its own unique serial number. Keep it with your order details. It is what links the kit to your young inventor.

      • Step 2

        Open The RG5 Portal

Go to the RG5 Portal and set up your Gadgeteer account. One account carries the whole learning journey, so use an address a parent or teacher can reach.

      • Step 3

        Enter Your Serial Number

Add the serial number to your account to unlock your kit’s missions and start at Circuit Cadet, the first learning level.

      What's In Your Inventor Kit

Every part has a mission. The portal shows your Gadgeteer what each one does and how to wire it up.

      • LED

        LED

The first light every Gadgeteer switches on.

      • RGB LEDs

        RGB LED

Mix red, green and blue into any colour.

      • Resistor

        Resistor

        Keeps the current in check.

      • Push button

        Push Button

Your first input: press it and things happen.

      • Buzzer

        Buzzer

        Beeps, alarms and quiz-night drama.

      • Light sensor (LDR)

        Light Sensor

Senses how bright the room is.

      • Ultrasonic distance sensor

        Ultrasonic Sensor

        Measures distance like a bat.

      • Servo motor

        Servo Motor

Turns to an exact angle on command.

      • LCD1602 display

        LCD Display

Shows words and numbers from your code.

      • DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor

        DHT11 Sensor

        Reads temperature and humidity.

Circuit Lab in the RG5 Portal

        Circuit Lab

Learners wire up circuits on screen before they touch a single component. Drag in LEDs, resistors and sensors, test the circuit, and see what happens when something is connected the wrong way. No smoke, no tears.

Circuit Lab lessons walk through each build step by step, and build challenges check what stuck.

        The Code Lab blocks editor

        Code Lab

From drag-and-drop blocks to real Arduino code. Learners start with visual blocks, see the code those blocks write, and move on to typing it themselves when they are ready.

A built-in checker looks over the code before it ever reaches the board.

        The educator dashboard

        Lesson Planning For Educators

Educators get a dashboard built for the classroom. Set up classes, assign missions, plan lessons and see at a glance who is flying and who needs a hand.

        The parent dashboard

        A Dashboard For Parents

Parents see exactly where their Gadgeteer is on the journey: missions completed, badges earned and what comes next. No robotics degree required.

        Starter Mission Path

The first Gadgeteer missions introduce learners to the building blocks of electronics and coding: LED Button Project, Traffic Light System, Temperature Monitor, Light Follower and Ultrasonic Distance Project, with many more waiting in the Inventor Vault.

Built For Learners, Helpful For Parents

Parents don't need to be robotics experts. The portal gives the journey structure, while RG5 helps make the experience feel friendly, fun and achievable.

The Gadgeteer Pledge is the promise. The RG5 Portal is one of the ways Robots & Gadgets delivers on it.
